Artistry in Leather, Performance in the Field
RLO Custom Leather has become the standard in firearm leather accessories for the discerning shooter.
My custom leather work started with making sheaths for my own custom knives.
A national economic down turn led me into sheath making for other established knife makers, primarily Andy Roy of Fiddleback Forge, to support my family. Through this association with Andy and his customers, I was able to expand sheath making into a full time business. At this same time, a local company asked me to design and produce custom leather rifle accessories for the Mosin Nagant, Mauser and SKS platforms. From this came the rifle stock covers with pocket and cheek rest. A young man, Griffin Wait, asked about making a sling for his Henry rifle that wouldn’t require drilling its wooden stock. Using his Henry rifle as pattern, we designed the “No Drill” Harnessed sling for Henry, Winchester, Marlin and other lever action rifles.
From that start, we’ve added rifle stock covers with cheek risers and other quality items for today’s shooters. These products are all made in my shop using only the best grade materials.
Rick began making leather for his personal knife collection and is an avid knife-maker. After the economic downturn in 2008, he began making sheaths for customers of other knife-makers, primarily Andy Roy of Fiddleback Forge. Rick was quickly established as a major player within that market and was able to take his leather business full-time. Shortly after, he began receiving requests for leather accessories for guns from a local company. He developed the “No Drill” Harness Sling after a customer, Griffin Wait, asked for a sling for his Henry lever action rifle that wouldn’t require any drilling of the wooden stock. Rifle Stock Covers with Cheek Risers followed shortly thereafter.
