My name is Zayna Vincent (she/her/hers) and I am a current Marriage and Family Counseling student pursuing my Master’s degree at the University of Florida. I have previously received my Bachelor’s degree in Criminology from Florida State University. My current clinical experience includes working with adolescents and their families in a school setting, engaging in play therapy with children, and providing academic services to college students as an advisor. As a first-generation student, I am passionate about social justice issues, providing accessible resources to underrepresented communities, and advocating for individuals to have a safe space. As a counselor, I am interested in working with all individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds. My approach to counseling is systematic and includes the following modalities: Person- Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT). I believe that awareness and multiculturalism are important factors within counseling and gaining insight into the various factors that contribute to stressors can be a powerful tool. My goal as a counselor is to provide clients with a space that enhances their healing journey, express themselves with no judgment, and for clients to take on the expert role with in counseling. Outside of counseling and school, I enjoy reading, traveling back home to Miami, catching up on sleep, and trying new restaurants around Gainesville (recommendations are welcomed). I am excited to step into this role, working with and learning from clients.

My name is Latressia Cox (she/her/hers) and I am a current Master of Social Work student at Walden University. I have previously received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Saint Leo University. Prior to that, I attended Santa Fe College for my Associates degree in psychology.

My current clinical experience includes working with children and families within the child welfare system, child development care coordination, case management and advocacy for children requiring Guardian ad litem, and some experience with ABA therapy for children with Autism and ADHD.

I have always been intrigued with how the mind works and why certain experiences cause certain reactions and behaviors. After studying behaviors and how the human mind works, I wanted to do what I could to help others work through experiences and challenges they may have, which is what led me to clinical social work.

My approach to counseling is client-centered and humanistic. I believe that every individual is unique in their own way and therefore will have a unique way of coping and healing. Depending on where a person is in the healing process, they may need encouragement to talk and work through a difficult topic or they may need a listening ear until they get to that point.

My goal as a counselor is to meet each client where they are, and work with them to achieve their therapeutic goal. I also strive to provide a safe, judgement free, therapy experience for all.

Giselle earned their Bachelor’s degree in English, Spanish, and Family, Youth, and Community Sciences from the University of Florida. They are now pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Prescott College, AZ. Giselle hopes to further their service to the Gainesville community through their work with the Gainesville Community Counseling Center.

Giselle’s approach to counseling is influenced by person-centered and feminist therapy. This means that she sees the client as the expert in their own lives and works to empower them through a strengths-based lens. Giselle centers transparency, non-judgment, and consent as foundational to the therapeutic process. She hopes that through holding space for clients with unconditional compassion and encouragement, clients can tap into their own powers of grace, self-love, and coping resiliency to navigate their interpersonal hardships and sociopolitical barriers.
